How to Remove Video Background in Adobe Premiere Pro CC (Tutorial)

April 27, 2024 0

INTRODUCTION

one of my tutorials that a lot of people have found helpful is how to remove a green screen in adobe premiere pro so in this video i'm going to show you some more background removal tricks maybe when you don't have a green screen like this video here so we're starting out with a video clip where we don't have a green screen background and i'm probably going to do many examples of these because each clip is going to be different

BRIGHTNESS OR DARKNESS

so in this case we have a few things to note we have a basically kind of solid even colored bright background so brightness or darkness matters we have a pretty decent line of contrast here so a skin tone might matter as well depending on the contrast between that in the background and also he's wearing a white t-shirt which may give us some problems because it's the same color sort of as these white clouds but i'm going to show you for this example a two layered approach that you can use to still get a pretty decent cut out when it's just not a green screen

LUMA KEY

so in the effects panel we're going to be using the keying effects and we're going to use a combination of the luma key and the ultra key here i've just got the original clip this is the original clip on track one i'm going to hide that just so we can have it for reference now i'm going to take the clip put it on another track so we can work with it and the first thing we can try is a luma key so luma refers to the luminance or the brightness or darkness basically so in the luma key effect controls you have two things threshold and cutoff

TRANSPARENT

so you can adjust the threshold at which the video will become transparent and it looks like just it's just becoming black but that's actually just transparency if you actually want to see that displayed as transparency you can click the settings icon and under transparency grid you can check that and you can actually get see like the one that you see in photoshop if that helps you but as i adjust this amount especially from zero to fifty to a hundred percent we see it sort of cuts out him but if we go too far it starts to cut out some of the clouds as well

THRESHOLD OR VICE VERSA

so you wanna find a balance between the threshold and the cut off where you're just getting a decent selection of your person and you can see kind of how it inverts itself when the cutoff becomes higher than the threshold or vice versa but not to complicate matters you can just kind of balance these two sliders and the goal is to try to get as much of the subject and as little of the background with as clear of a line as possible so this is what that might look like for me but you notice that this is still not perfect if i put it on black again we're still getting you know parts of since this shirt is so bright it it's kind of registering as the background even this highlights on his cheek and that's why i'm offering a two-layered approach here to kind of help you out further

DUPLICATE THIS CLIP

so you know depending on your clip if you just want something really rough this could be workable but it's not gonna look great because you're cutting into important parts of the subject like the face so if i were to just duplicate this clip i'll just do that by holding option and click and dragging it on a layer above itself you can also just drag it back over i'll delete the luma key on this effect so we're bringing back the full original clip and i will now use an ultra key as well so just to show you what's going on i'm going to hide everything else except this layer and the ultra key allows you to pick a key color instead of working with brightness and remove that

GENERATION TOOLS

so i'm going to ink drop over to sort of this really light blue color maybe i can try a few different ones and see which one seems to get a bet the best amount and then i'm also going to open up the matte generation tools and here you can adjust things about the tolerance of this selection so right now at 50 we can increase it so it even goes in more of those blue ranges if you want you can open the matte cleanup and soften things up a little bit this can have a tendency to get a little bit pixelated looking but for the most part we have removed a lot of stuff around here and in this case

CREATE A MASK

we're still keeping the parts of the face and for this method since we might get a lot of extra stuff in the corners and the side if you're able to if you're working with something that's not moving across the frame a crazy amount you can even add a mask on the opacity of the layer so if i just create i'll just use the pen tool for this case it'll be easier for a person shape but if i sort of just create a mask on the opacity of the rough outline of this person you'll notice once you get to the end it's kind of hard to make a point a workaround is to zoom out a little bit on the program window and then you can go beyond those boundaries and make those points and then you can put it back to fit if you want

KEYFRAME ANIMATION

so now i've really contained in my mask  a little bit more i can add points if i want to bring it in even a little bit more and if you really wanted to get advanced with it and go tedious you could add a keyframe animation onto this mask path so i could begin this mask and if you lose the blue outlines just make sure you highlight mask one again i can begin this kind of opened up enough and if i notice that you know i need more room here for the skateboard flip i can bring out that mask a little bit and then as he puts the skateboard down i can bring it back in so if you want to take this extra step you can sort of animate this mask

BACKGROUND OF YOUR CLIP

so it tracks your subject a little bit more so again every clip is going to be case by case and these are the different sort of things that might be included in a clip and these are tools that you can use to find solutions to those problems so since we can only key out one color at a time the cool thing with these keys is we can stack them so first i keyed out the blue now let me try to key out this really grayish blue white and this is another issue where i need to be careful because his shirt and his outfit is white as well and you're going to find oftentimes perhaps the color of clothing matches the greenery or background of your clip and these are things to keep in mind

TOLERANCE

so for this you maybe don't want to increase the tolerance too much but i'm still able to remove even some more of that section in if you really want to get in there that's where you're probably going to want to make sure that mask is really in there so effectively we've removed out much of that stuff and we've used the mask to make sure we don't have to worry about everything else now depending on your clip you know this might be enough but you'll notice this way sometimes kind of get grainy or not the best

ADD AN OPACITY MASK

so what we've done by combining the two methods is we still get that crisp line and edge from the luma key on the first layer that we did but then we also fill in the remaining portions of those areas using this second layer and i notice there's some clouds here in the luma key layer so it might not hurt to also add an opacity mask on the luma key layer so that we don't have to worry about that as well and although this is not perfect if i add another clip on the background

CROP ANIMATION

so that's the original if i add like whatever layer underneath it does provide a pretty decent result and it's up to you know how much key framing and how tight you make that mask to how clean your effect will be but it's still a little bit faster than more of a masking or rotoscoping style where you literally have to mask it exactly on the edge frame by frame that's a job that's much better suited towards after effects and as an added bonus if you want to know how to do that little before and after thing it's just simply a crop effect which is under the transform video effects folder and i simply will add a crop animation

CONCLUSION

let's just say on the left starts at zero and you can move forward a little bit and make it go to 100 and that'll do like a before and after i have a full tutorial on that if you want like a deeper explanation before and after transitions but that's another example of how to remove backgrounds in adobe premiere if you enjoyed this video you can check out the others on my channel and subscribe to stay tuned for more i'll probably do other examples to show you guys how i would approach those and the unique problems and solutions that other clips would provide my name is justin odisho thank you so much for watching and i'll see you in the next video you

Capcut Color Grading - 3 Methods To Color Grade For FREE - PC Tutorial

April 27, 2024 0

INTRODUCTION

Hello everybody welcome back another quick video in this one we're in cap cut for desktop and I am going to show you how to color grade your footage for free there's no plugins there's no nothing here going to show you how to do it for free and I'm going to show you using three methods I'm going to show you how to do it using adjustments

ORIGINAL FOOTAGE

how to do it using curves and then how to add in quick filters to take it over the top to show you that I know what I'm talking about here is the original footage here if I just move this slider here look at this this is awful footage everything is literally the same color it's just terrible there's like there's no colors in it and then if I move the slider to the right here well look at that we've got three different styles here I've got a nice brighter version and then you'll see here in this one here I darkened up the the ocean a little bit and the corners

NICE COOL ORANGE

I've got vignettes in the corner to draw your eye into the middle and then I even did an orange and stylish type style over here on this little birdie if I click on the bird here this is a better piece of footage this is the original footage it's not very good and then after color grading well look at that we've got a nice cool orange teal action look I'm going to show you to do this for free it'll take just a couple minutes let's go all right let's get cooking so the first step here is there's nothing on my timeline

COLOR CORRECT

I'm just going to drag and drop a piece of footage in that I want to color correct in this case it's this terrible footage here of these boats in the sea where everything's the same color okay not a problem the next step is I'm going to grab this same piece of footage and I'm going to drag and drop it right on top of it so we've got two pieces of the the exact same footage lined up at the exact same time then I'm going to hit the eyeball on the bottom track

ADJUSTMENT

now let's get cooking and start making some changes all right here we go let's cook all right so the first step make sure you're selected on the top video track then on the right side you're going to see video audio speed animation we don't want any of those what you want to do is you either want to click on these two arrows to get to adjustment or if you see adjustment just click on it when you do that you'll see curves hsl and basic hsl is highlight and saturation lightness but the first thing is we're going to go on basic and because I am basic just kidding

QUICK CHANGES

I'm not that basic we're going to go ahead and make some very quick changes and this is often all you need to do to get a nice quick and dirty uh color adjustment so here we go I'm going to go ahead and increase the decrease the temperature part of me quite a bit and you'll see here by just pulling the slider we've gone ahead and added in some blue into the sky and into the ocean kind kind of like

SATURATION

what we want now this isn't even as blue as I'd like it to go but there we go we're going to start off with this I'm going to put some green Aqua looking into this so I pulled the tint down again depending on the type of footage that you have you can adjust this as you see fit and I'm just going to increase the saturation a bit cuz I like bright colors because I'm a simple man now as I go down here under lightness you've got all of these different ones you can play with I would normally increase the exposure just a little bit I would increase the contrast cont a little bit even though you will see that we are losing some of that blue that's okay

SLIGHT VIGNETTE

we're going to add that back in in a second I'm going to go ahead and adjust the whites down a little uh let's see something like that oh no that's not enough something like that and then I'm going to play with the blacks a bit here uh I'm going to pull that down a little bit that sounded weird and uh there we go so Brilliance I'll increase it again this is just me messing around with it you know getting it to where I like it the one thing I do like to add in though is a vignette so I'm going to add in a slight vignette of about five and what that did is it added in some shadows in the corners and that draws your eye into the video

REVISED FOOTAGE

so it kind of pulls your eyes into the middle so that's looking okay so far now this is why I have a second piece of footage underneath it in the exact same spot cuz when I turn this eyeball on and off you'll see this is the original this is the revised footage with the vignette and the color changes now I'm going to show you a second technique to dial it in and get it a even better all right so the next step is we're going to go over here and we're going to go from basic we're going to switch over to Curves and every guy likes curves uh for color grading and other things

MANIPULATED

so here we go there are four curves and very briefly the Luma curve is brightness Luma means luminance which means brightness and then there's the red the green and the blue and all of these curves can be manipulated now for the brightness I like the brightness of this shot so I'm going to leave that alone for the red curve here and it's nice and colored red so you can't really get it wrong you'll notice that when I hover the mouse over you'll see that it allows us to add a point or add a beat so on the line here I'm going to add one in the middle somewhere around here and watch this I'm just going to pull this up and that makes the water red

BLUR WATER

so if you're doing a Jaws movie for example and then if I pull it down it adds in that nice turquoises green color so I'm going to go ahead and add that in there I'm going to go down to the blue or actually let's go to the green one next here let's do the the green and then I can move a point up if I want green water and if I want some of that cool looking Bluer water for example I'll pull it down a little bit and again

FILTERS

Guys these are just up to you completely but I'm just sort of dialing in the colors that I like and I'll add a point on the blue one watch this I pull it down I get that drab color but if I pull it up we get that really cool looking blue sea now again these are totally up to you once you've pulled them up you can go ahead and keep adjusting them as you see fit I might yeah I like the blue c although I also like the green uh let's go with a blue c for this one okay so there we go we've gone ahead and added in some curves feel free to adjust these as you see fit it's very subtle stuff now I'm going to show you how to put filters on this to dial it in and finish it up all right

FINAL THIRD STEP

so the next step here is I'll just do a quick comparison just to show you where we've gotten so far so again this is the original footage it's terrible and now here is the revised footage it's looking pretty good although the sea is kind of blending a little bit in with the sky more than I'd like so let's go ahead and do a final third step on the top making sure you're selected on the top footage we're now going to go up here and go to the filters option and under filters we get a whole bunch of different color filters now I'm going to go hover on a few of them some of them you know you may get one lucky that you want here this one's actually not too bad ghost but the one that I'm looking for is down here

VIDEO TRACK

let's see where it is it is orange and blue and obviously this is way too much but I'm going to go ahead and drag this filter onto video track three so it is on top of the footage and then I'm going to just drag it out all the way across now you're going to be like hey you ruin the footage and you'd be right but look at this up here at the right you'll see here that under filters we can dial this in so we can take it off completely or I can just start to move the slider a little bit here and then maybe up the intensity for the orange blue so maybe something that might be a bit too much something like that maybe and then if we've got it kind of like where we want it

CONCLUSION

so we've got a Bluer sea we've got nice bright orange colors in the boats here the sky is nice and blue we've got a vignette if we turn off the top two layers we've got our original footage then we've got adjusted and then we've got it with a filter applied this is pretty darn good you can always go back in and make adjustments so if I go back to basic and I decide that that's too blue I can pull some blue out or I could put some blue in tint it as I see fit but there you go Go Guys these are the three techniques you need to know to color grade inside cap cut completely for free thank you for watching

Image To Video AI Just Got Real - Domo AI - Detailed Tutorial

April 27, 2024 0

INTRODUCTION

hell yeah what's up guys this is kurur Pike my friends call me Big C back in Action today I got something crazy to show you and if you're a Tik Tok dancer you're going to want to turn this video off right now cuz it's coming for you but here's the thing I'm going to show you how to take any image literally any type of image and animate it in a cartoon this is not taking a video and turning it into a cartoon

ANIMATED CARTOON

I'm going to show you how to do that as well but this is an image into a cartoon and then into an animated cartoon in a style of your choice for example and I'll give you the example running behind me I've got an image of this white lady here doing her thing she's just a regular white lady I put the image in I put the video of this Asian girl doing some weird dance thing going on I hit the button and all of a sudden I've got a cartoon of that white girl doing the dance that the Asian lady was doing and I can download it and use it upload it to YouTube and it's going to pass all the copyright checks this is nuts let me show you how to do this all right

DOMO AI

first up head over to Google or whatever you use and type in do AI when you get there you want to make sure that you select the second result at least for me you want Domo AI doapp a. doo.com totally different sites same name kind of weird click on that and then Presto you're going to see this it's going to ask you to join your Discord so you're going to join up with Discord and then I'll show you in Discord what the next steps are all right here we go so we are in Domo Ai and just keep in mind that it's this robot icon if you not sure and you get lost it's the robot icon right here and then you get a whole bunch of options but what we want to do is we want to go to one of the generate rooms here

GENERATE ROOMS

so there's 11 generate rooms I'm going to go to generate video 11 and you can already see here that here's an example of what I did earlier so I added this woman here this is just a stock image and then I added this video here of this girl dancing which is the stock video and it gave me this which is pretty damn impressive I am not going to lie this is crazy okay so how did I do that well let's just go right to the bottom here I'm just going to grab this and pull it down and then here we go so the first step is you want to go forward slove and when you do that hit enter you get two options you get to upload a video and you get to upload the image

DANCING VIDEO

so let's start with the video so I'm going to go ahead and grab this video here and just so you know this is the video of that Asian lady dancing that's her dancing and now I'm going to grab the image so I'm just going to click on that again and then I'm going to go to movies and I've got an image that I want to use let's use this lady here we've got a nice attractive lady here with a nice smile so we're basically saying Hey I want this lady and this is also a stock image to take this image and turn it into a dancing video like this crazy I know all right

FEW DIFFERENT OPTIONS

so in the prompt section here all you got to do is type in what you want attractive lady dancing doesn't have to be too specific because it's more or less using um the the video instead of what your prompt ISS hit enter and now you're going to get a couple options it's going to take a few seconds for it to think about what we're doing here but here we go Domo AI is thinking all right I'm going to come back when it's done some thinking show me a second that's already done okay good enough now look at this we get a few different options here here we go so a defaults to anime style but there is a realistic model as well

FOUR DIFFERENT STYLES

so I'm going to go with the anime version 6 but there are four different styles I recommend you try out all of them they're all really really good let's go with the anime style secondly can go for a 3 second video a 5-second video a 10-second video or a 20 second video Believe It or Not uh do keep in mind that the 20 second video takes 20 minutes to render and I believe the big one is only for paid subscribers so I have a I have a paid subscription to this but you'll only probably have the first three so let's go ahead and click on 10 seconds here generate 10 seconds and then literally all you got to do is hit start and it's going to start cooking and then I'm going to come back in a few minutes and I'll show you what we got all right welcome back

ORIGINAL IMAGE

so here we go here's the original image which we put in there nice lady having a nice smile plus the dancing lady full body dancing only half of her body showing in this picture but look at this if I click on this here and I click on Play There we go we've got her she's got the same kind of shirt on and then it gave her some matching pants and there she is doing her thing dancing away and if I want to download them look here you'll see here that it gives you the results it gives you the original image and the video that you can go ahead and download if needed

REALLY COOL STUFF

so really really cool stuff now I want to show you how to change one type of video into another it's cool watch this all right welcome back so the next thing I want to show you is how to take a video and change its style so let me show you what I'm talking about here here's a video of this you know pretty lady just sort of looking back and then like all women do looking away and walking away from me okay this is just a okay this is just a uh stock video this isn't real life but here you go I've turned this into this style literally with one click now her left eye has a little bit of a wobble there but I mean this is pretty cool it's even borderline uh Grand Theft Auto 5 style

BIG DEAL

so let me show you how to do this it's easy as heck to do all you got to do is just type in forward slide and then hit enter once you do that it says drag and drop a video you want to select I'm going to go ahead and select I don't know let's select a puppy dog here we're going to get this papoo and we're going to drag and drop in this puppy that just does puppy things now for the prompt this isn't a big deal but I'm just going to be like cute puppy that's it I don't have to do anything really it doesn't really even matter but you got to put something in here

3D CARTOON

so I'm going to hit enter And now when I do this check this out this is where it gets kind of crazy so first thing like always you can go ahead and select three 5 10 or 20 seconds if you have a paid subscription you can also refer to Source video more which is what I almost always recommend or refer to prompt more if you've got a bad video I suppose but anyways when I click on this down arrow you'll see here that there is not just like one style there are 23 different styles van go paper art Grand Theft Auto game color illustration story book comic pixel 3D cartoon Chinese ink painting anime of all different types and flavors I mean just tons of stuff here

2.5D ILLUSTRATION

so 2.5d illustration style is one of the newer Styles PlayStation 2 style color pencil Style Just altogether amazing stuff I'm going to go ahead and select uh 2.5d illustration style cuz I find this to be quite good but again you can always experiment try out the different styles there's 23 of them I'm going to go ahead and select a 5c version of this and it says here it should take about 5 minutes so I'm going to go ahead and click Start and then we're going to render this one out and we'll see what it looks like when I come back all right welcome back so here we go here's another example I've got my puppy dog doing puppy dog things here just just being a boss and and then

CHROMA KEY

I click out and then bang here we go we've got our perer doing some Grand Theft Auto illustration uh animation type things and the same thing goes for this uh pretty lady which I think I showed you earlier and then here she is in sort of like a line drawn Grand Theft Auto style so this is all one click easy to do let me show you one more thing you can do with this product though all right so the last thing I want to show you is you can actually make your content with a green background for example so if you want to you know chroma key or green screen or pull out the green color you can do that as well let me show you example I'm going to go forward SL move going to hit enter and then you'll see video and image

DASH DASH KEY

so let's do the same thing again I'm going to grab let's go for the video we're going to have that lady doing her dance thing drag and drop it there for an image I'm going to use this image of Livy Dunn cuz she's very pretty and that's just how I roll but watch this under prompt I'll have pretty woman dancing and then this this is what I'm going to do dash dash key or D- key when I do that and hit enter there we go so we'll see here that it's going to go ahead it allows me to do 5 Seconds 3 seconds Etc I'm going to do 5 seconds on this one

GREEN SCREEN ACTION

I'm going to go anime Japanese style anime and then I'm just going to click on start all right and here is some green screen action here we go here's a picture that I used it's Livy Dunn the gymnast it's a terrible picture it's low quality but hey that's okay just wanted to show you what this is capable of doing so there's the image there again is our little dancing lady that does her silly dance and now look at this here's the animation but look it's got green screen in the back so if you know how a chroma key or green screen

CONCLUSION

you can just pull out the green and then you've got the dancing character with no background which is awesome especially if you like to create Motion Graphics that are kind of funny and quirky so there you go guys this is all inside Domo AI I got a link in the description below give it a try let me know what you think in the comments below thanks for watching

All About the Align Panel in Adobe Illustrator Tutorial

April 26, 2024 0

INTRODUCTION

what's going on everybody welcome back to design Smith today I'm going to be showing you all about the Align panel in Adobe Illustrator before we get started if you end up liking this video please remember to hit like And subscribe it really helps me with the growth of my channel and I appreciate it so the first thing we want to do is make sure that our align panel is showing

ALIGN PANEL

so go up to window and click on align and it'll show up probably over here somewhere I like to put mine on the right side I'm going to be doing a video pretty soon about how to set up your workspace in the best way possible so just keep an eye out for that okay so your align panel does exactly what you think it would do it aligns your objects for you and there's all kinds of different things going on here but I assure you it's very simple

CENTER HORIZONTAL

so the first thing I'm going to do here is just draw a square right here and what we can do is we've got several options we've got align to artboard align to selection and aligned to key object align to artboard is going to be your default and what you can do is go up here to the center horizontal align Center and you can also align it to the ver vertical Center of your artboard so this is now perfectly centered with the artboard and just like you would expect you could do horizontal align Left Right top and bottom

DISTRIBUTE OBJECTS

so that covers this first row right here and as you can see it's not as intimidating as you may have thought all right so the next row is distribute objects and this is very helpful if you want to distribute objects evenly so I'm going to draw probably five going across right here and I'm just going to move them I'm going to move some of them out out of the bounds of the art board and just kind of randomly place them anywhere I'm going to move this one let's move this way over here move this over here just kind of scatter them in general

VERTICAL ALIGN CENTER

now what you can do is select all of these or you can do command Orr a on your keyboard and just make sure that these are selected and nothing outside of these bounds are being selected and you can go up to align objects and vertical align Center and then you can click on horizontal distribute Center so that is going to horizontally distribute your objects evenly and the same thing applies vertically you can do the same thing over here these are not aligned horizontally but they are aligned vertically all right and so for the distribute objects row a couple of these could be a little bit confusing

TOPMOST ELEMENT

so I'll try to explain it the best way I can let's go ahead and arrange these like this and what this is going to do if you select all of these and if you go up to distribute objects vertical distribute top this is going to vertically distribute all of these squares right here with respect to the topmost element so that's going to be this one right here now after you do the top if you click on the center it will do the ex EXA same thing so let's undo what we just did and click on the center and that's going to look for the object that is the most in the center

VERTICAL DISTRIBUTE

so it's this one and it's going to vertically distribute with respect to this square right here and then we can undo that and then go over here to Vertical distribute bottom so that's going to vertically distribute with respect to this bottom square right here I rarely use vertical distribute top bottom and same thing with horizontal left and horizontal right

SELECTION PERSONALLY

I'm a lot more likely to use vertical distribut Center and horizontal distribute Center and I'll show you what those do let's just kind of move these around like this select everything and click on vertical distribute Center and this is taking into account all of these squares right here and it's Distributing everything with respect to the vertical Center of your selection and then the same thing over here with horizontal this is going to distribute all of our objects in accordance with our selection personally for what I do I use distribute objects the least amount all right in this next one I used more than anything else

CONTEXTUAL TEXT BAR

so let's go ahead and draw some more squares let's get this contextual text bar out of the way we'll move these over here we'll just kind of create these randomly and now let's select everything and this is going to be distribute spacing and you have to select one of your objects in order to activate this so we're going to say that we want one inch in between each of our boxes

VALUABLE TOOL

so you can go ahead and click on horizontal distribute space and now there's exactly 1 inch in between each one of these objects and you can enter in whatever value you want and you'll notice over here that aign to key object is highlighted when we do this that's because we have this object highlighted as our key object because we selected it after we made our selection if you want you can change your key object and then go over here and increase the spacing a little bit and now it's going to align to this object it's going to keep this object still and push everything else outward this is a very valuable tool

ARTBOARD VERSUS

when you've got a lot of elements on the p page and you're trying to get some Symmetry and now with all of these selected we can just go up here to align vertical Center and that will align all of these vertically centered and now let's take a look at aligning to the artboard versus aligning to the selection so let's select all of these and let's go over here to align to artboard so we're going to distribute the spacing horizontally and what that's going to do is align all of our objects to the bounds of our artboard and we can do the same thing horizontally

STROKE

so you can use this if you want to use some Randomness and let's bring this this in really quickly and I'll show you what selection is so this is our selection and now let's click on align to selection and you can distribute spacing to your selection and it will only stay within the bounds of this selection here all right and there's a couple more things that I want to show you so for this example we need to swap the fill in the stroke so let's put like this bright pink stroke on the outside here I'm going to go over here to stroke and a line to stroke I'm going to bring this up to 20 points and now I'm going to create just a little line here with our pin tool I'll bring that down to like one point and then

COLOR DROP

I'm going to color drop this one so that both of these match each other so what we're going to do here is Select both of these and let's click on this line to make that our key object go over here to a line and check use preview bounds what that's going to do is even though we have a stroke on this element right here it's going to align to this line to the outer edges of this pink so let's do vertical align bottom and as you can see this shape with its stroke is aligned to our line now now we're going to uncheck use preview bounds select both of these click on our line to make that a key object and now align to the bottom and it's aligning to the shape without the stroke

TEXT BOX

so keep that in mind if anything is acting weird you might have used preview bounds checked or unchecked depending on what you're trying to do okay and the last thing I want to show you is aligning to the text box versus the glyph area so let's select both of these and let's go over here to align to glyph bounds and if you have Point text and area text both selected and you make this box your key object let's align to this right here and if you move this over here you'll see that the uppermost part of the text which is right there where that s is it's aligning to that instead of the text box itself where these bounds are so let's uncheck both of these and this box is still our key object so let's align to the top here

CONCLUSION

now it's going to align to that text box in this example right here we'll do an area type and align to this and let's unch Tech area text and that will align with the top of the text instead of the text box well I hope I taught you something in illustrator today thank you so much for watching and if you wouldn't mind please hit like And subscribe it helps me a lot with the YouTube algorithm and I really appreciate it thank you so much for watching and I'll see you next time bye-bye

How to Blur a Photos Background in Adobe Photoshop CC (Tutorial)

March 29, 2024 0

INTRODUCTION

in this video i'm going to show you how to blur the background of your photos in adobe photoshop so the first thing i'm going to do is duplicate our original layer so in the layers panel i can right click duplicate layer you can also use the shortcut command j now on the top layer i want to select out our subject of our photo so in photoshop you can go over to the object selection tool

USEFUL BUTTON

which is a new one and there's actually this really useful button that's just select subject this will automatically try to detect the subject of your photo and select it now it's not perfect and you can do some manual lasso adjustments and you can make sure you're working on add or subtract to selection mode so in this case there's a part of the boot here that i can try to add to the selection i can go to subtract from selection and there's a part of this stairwell that i don't want and you can kind of manually refine things in that way you see you have all these different tools available for you to select in photoshop but now

 LAYER MASK

what we want to do is create a layer mask so i'll go to layer layer mask and we'll choose reveal selection so what we've done now is we have this top layer and the top layer just has our selection and then we have the original photo on the background so we have this cool sort of separation that we've created and this is actually the foundation for a lot of cool effects that you can do in photoshop for example if you ever wanted to put text behind a person you basically have separated these two layers

RADIUS OF THE SHAPE

so you can sandwich any sort of effects between them but if we want to just blur the background all we're going to do on this background layer is go to filter blur and there's a couple different blurs you can do there's also the blur gallery now if you're working with blurs like gaussian blur it's pretty simple you can just increase the strength it doesn't look as realistic as like something out of a camera would but it can be really good for youtube thumbnails or just creating this contrast and pop of depth that you might need for a thumbnail or other sort of designs a more realistic one if is if you go to filter blur lens blur this one will allow you to create more of like a realistic blur that comes out of a camera lens and in the right hand menu you have some options such as the blur focal distance the radius of the shape

TRADITIONAL GAUSSIAN BLUR

so you can choose things like a square or triangle and you can see rather than just like our traditional gaussian blur this one is taking those highlights and it's we're kind of getting those bokeh blurs and those highlights and you can even adjust the specular highlights and the threshold and the brightness of them so we're getting a little bit of a more realistic look now when i press ok you'll see that we still have our original cutout on top and so we've brought that back into focus and we get this realistic blur in the background which is a little bit more cool obviously it doesn't look as realistic as from a camera because you know this isn't how depth field would work in real life but it can still create a cool pop of contrast for you

ORIGINAL SUBJECT

now you do get this sort of haloing effect because you know the original subject is getting blurred too and in cases like this you can maybe try to even blur this layer mask so maybe if i add a blur onto that layer mask it can help with some of that haloing i can even maybe go in there with a brush tool on white and just try to softly brush away some of those edges another idea you can try so that you can avoid this haloing effect is before you blur your background layer

ORIGINAL EDGE

i'm actually just going to grab my regular lasso tool i'm going to try to create a generally even outline around our subject and then this time i'm just going to right click and fill with content aware fill this should give us a decent fill try to make the out remove the object from the image we don't have to worry too much if the middle looks kind of crazy we're actually just trying to get rid of some of those edges that that are going to halo later and then when we do have our other layer back in the front of it we can then blur the background layer now so if i do the lens blur like before now it'll blur it without catching the original edge it looks a little bit more blended in and we get a more crisp edge that doesn't have that halo

SMART FILTERS

so this is another tip that you can work in remember you still want to pay attention to the selection make sure things are good but that's one idea to work around if you want a full tutorial on how to remove objects from your photo and more in depth i do have a separate tutorial all just on that content-aware fill and other manual tools that you can touch up removing objects with also as a final tip if you're doing for most blurs the lens blur doesn't work this way but if you right click and convert it to a smart object now whenever you do apply an effect on it so if i did you'll see the lens blur is grayed out but if i apply any other blur then i am working on a smart layer i can always double click back on those filters those smart filters and i can adjust them again

CONCLUSION

so it's a little less permanent less destructive and that can always hide and bring things back so work on smart layers if you aren't doing the lens blur or just always keep a backup of your original photo on a layer underneath so you can always reference it and go back to it but this is a cool and basic way to blur the backgrounds of your images in photoshop if you enjoyed this tutorial you can check out hundreds of more photoshop tutorials in the playlist on my channel my name is justin odisho you can subscribe to stay tuned for new videos thank you so much for watching and i'll see you in the next one

How to make a 3D Animated Photo in Photoshop & Adobe Premiere Pro CC

March 29, 2024 0

INTRODUCTION

hi my name is justin odisho and in this tutorial i'm going to show you how to take a 2d photo and give it some 3d motion using photoshop and adobe premiere pro so we're going to actually start with our photo in photoshop because the first step we want to do is separate the subject or person from the background

CLEAR CONTRAST

now a quick way to do this for most photos where you have a clear contrast is to go to select and then choose subject in the top menu this is a really quick way to automatically select the subject of a photo and it should work well for your image if for some reason you aren't able to do this with your photo you can also try tools like the quick selection tool and try to paint in areas or you could try doing it by hand at last resort with something like the polygonal lasso tool or pen tool really carefully one by one but since this will work for our case and perhaps your case as well

SUBJECT TOOL

we're just going to select subject there are some small areas of discrepancy like right here on the shoe i can just zoom in using the shortcut command plus or minus to zoom in or out and i can grab my polygonal lasso tool make sure it's set to add to selection and maybe just fix up a little bit of those problem areas like that there's also this select subject tool object selection tool if you want you can use this on subtract or highlight from mode and go in there and tell photoshop exactly to pick up on some areas

NEW LAYER

so take as much care as you need for this section you know if you really want to get in there in between the space of the fingers or these loops of the shoe i can use the shortcut command 0 to scale it back to fit because this is a pretty large photo but once i have a pretty good selection i'm going to right click and layer via copy this onto its own layer so now we have the cutout and the background but i'm actually going to load up that selection again by holding command and clicking on the thumbnail of this new layer

BACKGROUND LAYER

we made it'll just bring back up our selection of the contents of this layer and i'm going to go back to my background layer and i'm going to use the content-aware fill to even remove him from the background fully so one thing i'm going to do first is go to select modify and expand out this selection depending on the size your photo this could be anywhere from five to 25 pixels let's just do 10 for this example you'll see it kind of expands out the selection a bit you know let's just do five more and then i'm also going to add a little bit of feathering

ANIMATE OUR SUBJECT

so select modify feather i'll feather that selection maybe 5 pixels and then i'll right click and fill that selection with content aware fill so when i press ok you'll see photoshop will try to just automatically delete whatever's in the background and this is a pretty great example photo because it's pretty clear blue sky but even right here with the concrete and the trees it does a pretty good job because when we go through to animate our subject in premiere we want these two layers to kind of be separate

PRETTY GOOD SEPARATION

so we don't catch those double edges so once you have a pretty good separation here from subject to foreground i'm going to save this as a psd so i'm just going to save this wherever i want on my desktop as a photoshop document psd and i'll save that and press ok now is when we go over to premiere pro so although you could do this in after effects as well i'm going to use premiere pro for those of you who don't have acupuncture only working with premiere and i'm going to grab my photoshop document that i created and i'm just going to import it into my project media panel and then this import pop-up menu will show up it'll ask you if you want to import it as a merged file or individual layers what we want to do is individual layers because we want each layer as its own thing

PHOTOSHOP LAYERS

so i press ok now i have this new folder of the document and i have both of the two layers in there so depending on the size of your your sequence that you want you can adjust or create a new sequence in a specific size if you need it that way but in this case we're just going to use the original dimensions of the photo so i'm just going to drag our background layer into the timeline to create a new sequence it'll just create a new sequence of whatever the dimension the photoshop document was and then i'll drag the other layer on top so we've kind of recreated our photoshop layers but now in premiere

COOL PART

we have the background and the foreground and the cool part is we can add keyframes now to create animations in the size or other things so one simple thing you can do is simply make the scale change a little bit so i can go to the scale toggle keyframes on and over the however many second duration of the clip you want i can make the scale increase like 10 points or 5 points and when i play that back it'll look like this some gradual increase and then at the same time i can go to the background i can actually start the background a little bit larger and add a keyframe and then at the end i can revert it back to its original size i'm just clicking this reset parameter button to take it back to the original 100

PARALLAX TUTORIALS

now i have the image kind of separated out this is similar to the parallax tutorials i've done in the past but another cool thing you can do aside from just the scale let me actually just start from scratch again with no keyframes is using the basic 3d effect that's in the perspective folder and applying this onto the two layers we'll get a couple different options in the effects control panel so if i go back to my top layer i now have these swivel and tilt and distance to image options

 FACE A CROP

now you are going to notice sometimes if you go to swivel them i mean it's cool you can rotate it but you're noticing it puts it in this new kind of frame and it might end up cropping it sometimes one quick work around to that is to lower the distance to image or increase it in this case until you avoid that crop so we're in this kind of canvas that they've created and then increase the scale back to whatever the original kind of size was now you can play around with the swivel and the tilt a little bit easier without having to face a crop and you can create first of all you can create this cool like spinning animation if you just animate this parameter but the same idea with the gentle movement to make it feel 3d would be to start like somewhere a little bit this way and then gradually make it turn the other way and then do the same thing with the background

BASIC 3D

so the basic 3d on the background add a little bit of swivel maybe the opposite way so from right to left and you see i can just drag these keyframes around and you can also play around with the distance to image and the tilt and all that this can create i mean this could be kind of cool if you did want them separated and added a color in the background but if i just pull the scale back up now i have two different images kind of swiveling in different ways and you can still add those scale keyframes if you want like making it get slightly bigger over time or making the other object get slightly shrunken over time and the other thing with these keyframes is you can right click on them and add ease in or ease outs to give them a little bit more gentle motion

LITTLE KEYFRAMES

so all in all you can get these cool 3d looks by taking the the object separating in photoshop and bringing it into premiere and adding these little keyframes there's other options like specular highlights that you can add onto the layer might not always look realistic but it could be an interesting option depending on the idea you're working with and honestly if you wanted you can even add like lens flares and stuff in the effects panel you can either add them directly onto the background so i could add a lens flare and i can animate the position to slightly move from one direction to a little bit different maybe blend it in a little bit with this layer and that could be another idea to add some subtle 3d feel to the photo if you wanted to apply the lens flare over the entire image and not just the background layer you can go to file new black video and add a black video on top apply the lens flare there and just set this black video layer to screen blending mode and you can lower the opacity if you want to lower the strength

NESTED LAYER

same idea you'll notice this this trick i'm doing i'm highlighting the lens flare effect in the effect controls panel and this marker will come up in the program window so that i don't have to adjust the flare center x and y position with the sliders each time that's a little bit more intuitive that way but once you do start adding all these different 3d things and lens flares you might notice this red line pop up you might want to just press i and o to create in and out points and then render into out under the sequence menu if you do want to catch a good preview and be able to watch the work that you've been doing and another final idea i know i've been packing in a lot here if you just nest everything together so right click and nest it all together and then duplicate that nested layer

CONCLUSION

i'm just holding option and dragging it out to duplicate it and then put them end to end and then right click on the speed and duration and reverse the speed of the second one you can create kind of like a boomerang perfect loop so that if you were to post this somewhere that you did want to loop or make it like a gif or something it would now be a perfect loop forward and backward as soon as it hits this middle point it'll just turn around so it's constantly going back and forth and tilting so if you enjoyed this tutorial my name is justin odisho you can check out hundreds more on the playlist on my channel and subscribe to stay tuned for all my new videos thank you so much for watching and i'll see you in the next video

How to Create Super Slow Motion Effect in Adobe Premiere Pro CC (Optical Flow vs Timewarp)

March 25, 2024 0

INTRODUCTION

In my previous video on creating super slow motion in adobe premiere pro i showed you the new time warp feature in the effects panel however it seems like a lot of people don't have this effect yet it may be due to the the version or the operating system i can't quite seem to figure out why but as a lot of people mention in the comments there's also another way to do super slow motion if you don't have this effect and i'm going to discuss the pros and cons of each so that way is in the speed duration optical flow

30 FRAMES PER SECOND

so let's just take this clip for those who are wondering this clip is shot in 30 frames per second and you can see that when you highlight the info tab and you can play it it's a woman walking through the street so there's some camera motion in the frame but there's also motion in the subject so that's what it looks like normal motion and if i right click and go to speed duration if i were to lower this let's say to 50 percent

INTERPOLATION METHOD

it's going to look choppy because now we have a 30 frames per second stretched out in half so about 15 frames however the sequence settings are still 30 frames and you're going to notice it looks a little choppy if i do that even more right click speed duration change it to something like 20 you'll notice it looks even more choppy now we can literally see those frames being stretched out frame by frame because they have to fill in this new space however if while you're doing that if you change the interpolation method

FRAME SAMPLING

so time interpolation if you change it from frame sampling to optical flow this will do a similar result as what i showed in the previous tutorial and it will create a flow of those frames by creating new frames in between now you'll notice that this bar immediately turns red it is a little bit of a heavier effect so if you want a easy way to preview that you can press i on your keyboard go to a certain point and press o and then press return key and it'll render a preview for you so once this is done i'll show you what this looks like

LIGHTING

so here you can see we have some super slow motion and we've created those new frames so it's not as choppy this is going to depend on the context of your clip whether the lighting is changing really fast or the scene is changing really fast in this case the only thing that provides a problem for premiere is uh the very fine sort of black and white stripes on this great on the street you can see that that causes a little bit of an issue on one or two frames

DEPENDING ON YOUR CLIP

which you're gonna have your own issues and glitches depending on your clip but as far as for a lot of portions of this clip it does add a really nice slow motion to the walking here so that's us taking that clip down to 20 if i were to do the same thing with time warp it still works with time warp so if i take the speed and turn it down to 20 change the method to pixel motion you can see here it's essentially the same actually it does do a little bit of better job in this clip with the grate

SPEED

you'll notice the speed is the same we've taken each clip to about 20 percent of its original speed uh just by happenstance it happens to work better in in the case of the grate there but you know if you don't have that feature or you know i can easily imagine a time where the optical flow might work better on a different clip so as far as pros and cons you'll notice i mean there's one pro sometimes this might work better

FLEXIBILITY

you have more flexibility inside of the time warp effect as far as fine tuning so in the effect controls panel you have all of these options for fine tuning as well as options for motion blur and other mats and crops so that's one reason you might want to experiment with the flexibility of time warp as far as just optical flow however another a con of this is that even if i stretch the clip down to 20 percent you can see when i do that for the optical flow or the the clip that we stretched using speed and duration method it extends the clip

INFORMATION

so we don't lose any of information from beginning to end of the clip we get all of the clip this is like stretching out the clip but it still is going to keep its same duration so whatever we're able to make 20 it cuts off right there and if you wanted it to come back you'd have to drag another instance of the clip out which you could do you know match up the cut point and do whatever you want another thing to remember is you can you can speed ramp with time warp so i can add keyframes onto the speed

ADD A FEW KEY FRAMES

so if i wanted it to begin at a hundred and then quickly go in to 20 all i have to do is add a few key frames and it'll go from 100 to 20 and i can i can adjust the interpolations of those keyframes right click make them ease in or out or even drop down that menu and adjust these ramps between these keyframes but this will essentially quickly go down from 100 speed to 20 speed this will dramatically increase the rendering time but you can see 100 boom it ramps down to 20 i can add keyframes to make it go back up or whatever

MOTION ALTERNATIVELY

I want if you wanted to do that with the optical flow method you could also right click on this clip add a show clip keyframes timer mapping and speed if i make this v1 track a little bit bigger by dragging on that line i can see that line and if i hold the command key i can add points on that line so i can start out at a faster speed it's kind of counterintuitive because it's at a hundred percent of 20 percent but i can increase the speed and then add another point maybe increase it and i can drag and split these two markers and you get a similar idea of ramping into or out of motion alternatively

CREATE NEW FRAMES

you could also just take the clip and let's say if i wanted it to begin being slow motion right here i could cut that part maybe just cut out the section i want to be slow motion and i could right click and use the speed duration on that part so take this to 20 with optical flow i'm just using the number 20 you can go for 10 or 30 percent different percentages are gonna uh work better or worse you know the lower you go the more you're going to make it optical flow have to try to work and create new frames

LITTLE PORTION

so you might find it to be more difficult to go super slow but you can see the new duration of the clip will now be 17 seconds this little portion right here it'll have to be 17 seconds long if we stretch it out basically divide it by five and then i can just bring this other end back in another way to do that is check the ripple edit button that's what that's there for um let's say i make this even slower it'll just push everything over instead of getting cut off so do keep that in mind if you want these to be seamless

HIGHER FRAME RATE

so yes you can also use optical flow if you don't have time warp one thing to to note in whether your photo or video editing is there's always multiple ways to reach similar effects it's sort of like mathematics where two plus two equals four three plus one equals 4 6 minus 2 equals 4 you can get the same result in different routes um so but you have all these tools for you in your toolbox this doesn't replace just shooting in a higher frame rate i'd say it can work great for a majority of clips but you can see there's times

OPTICAL FLOW

where the clip doesn't work well and you do you can kind of tell the difference between a clip that has frames that have been created using optical flow or time warp there's just something a little different about it a little uncanny whereas if you shot in ultra high frames per second you're just not going to be able to replicate it exactly so i'm not going to say that this is going to replace a high frames per second shot exactly but you can definitely use it for clips that are 24 frames or 30 frames per second if you don't have a camera that can shoot very high or if you're just in a pinch or that's that's all you can work with

CONCLUSION

so it's definitely a great added tool for getting smooth slow motion my name is justin odisho if you enjoyed this video you could subscribe to my channel here on youtube and check out hundreds of more videos like this on my channel thank you so much for watching and i'll see you in the next one
